Congrats are in order for Brooke Mooreland, CEO and creator of Fashism!Brooke was honored by The Huffington Post as one of the Top Ten Female Tech CEO's to Watch. What I love most about Brooke is the story of how she started one of the hottest fashion sites on the web. Here's what HuffPo shared about her rise to the top:
Before launching Fashism, a web community that gives users real-time style advice, Moreland had to get her feet wet. While working full time as a reality TV editor, she worked on her brainchild at night before finally leaving her job to focus on Fashism, which launched in 2009. Fashism takes the idea that plenty of people online not only have the style smarts but the kind of objectivity you just can't get from a boyfriend and converts it into an easy to use website. It recently raised $1 million in funding from supporters including Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, Nina Garcia, a judge on Project Runway, and well-known VC Ron Conway, among others.
I love that! Here's someone who had and idea, got real-world experience in her area of interest, and made it happen. Yes, yes, yes!
