A New Gig For Stephanie Winston Wolkoff: director of Lincoln Center's fashion week

The former planner of the fashion industry's biggest fĂȘte--the Met's Costume Institute Gala--has a new project on her hands. Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who turned her duties over to Sylvana Soto-Ward when she left her position as Vogue's director of special events in June, has landed what one might argue is an even bigger gig: fashion week. Wolkoff has been named Lincoln Center's director of fashion week, with responsibilities including consulting on internal and external coordination between Lincoln Center and the fashion industry--IMG Fashion, CFDA, retailers and the design community. Wolkoff will report to Reynold Levy, president of Lincoln Center.

"Welcoming Fashion Week to Lincoln Center is an important part of our commitment to making the campus more open and accessible, particularly since design has played an integral role in the artistic life of our 12 resident organizations for many decades," said Levy in a statement. "Stephanie's understanding of the specific needs of the fashion industry in tandem with her experience in organizing high profile, logistically complex events, will be invaluable as a resource in ensuring that Fashion Week's presence at Lincoln Center will be very special--exciting, convenient and efficient." Lincoln Center's first fashion week will take place in September 2010.
